Cooking Classes in Napa ... where the Best of the Bites Rules!
Whether you're looking for a fun corporate team building activity or to share a unique culinary adventure with friends, Sharon's Traveled Table Cooking Classes and Demos have received rave reviews from attendees! Hosted at local wineries, area resorts and private homes, these hands-on classes are customized for skill levels from novice to super-foodie and include ample opportunity for taste-testing individual and team creations.
Among the most popular of classes is Sharon's All-Star Tapas Academy. During this 2-hour interactive workshop, students are first treated to a 10 minute demo and tasting of a seasonal tapa prepared by Chef Sharon. Next, students are divided into teams and charged with making one of Chef's super-versatile "tapas bases." These simple, easy to prepare bases provide near limitless options for embellishing with added flavors and textures. Sample bases include Chef's Goat Cheese & Greek Yogurt Spread, a simple Garbanzo or White Bean Hummus, a Fruit Chutney, an Herb Pesto, Chef's Wow Sauce and several more tasty spreads/sauces suited to being jazzed up in Round 2's timed team challenge. Students are encouraged to taste-test their tapa base and then work together with their team to create a tapa of their own in a timed 30-minute challenge. Students work together to determine a direction for their tapa, whether savory or sweet, crunchy or creamy and, can select any number of ingredients desired from the pantry table loaded with proteins and seasonal produce. Teams create enough tapa bites to serve the entire group and Chef Sharon offers critique of each during judging. The winning team's tapa is proclaimed "The Best of the Bites" and that team wins perpetual bragging rights!
Other Classes include Chef Sharon's Umbria 101... a 3-hour interactive session featuring hands-on preparation of 3 traditional Italian dishes from the region of Umbria, followed by a sit-down lunch where partcipants enjoy the fruits of their labor... and, Napa Fresh, a 3-hour veggie-centric session that includes a Chef demo, followed by a hands-on cooking session with the students and a sit down lunch showcasing the best of the area's seasonal produce.
